The Smart Village concept initiated by Indore Commissioner Sanjay Dube around one and a half year ago has started yielding better results. The concept is being materialised in eight districts of Indore division.
In every Janpad, five villages are being developed as smart village. There are total 270 villages in 54 Janpads of eight districts in Indore division which are selected for smart village and the infrastructure progress and construction is going on in these villages for smart villages. The aim of smart village is to make the village garbage free, mud and dust free and disease free.
Under the smart village project, 100 per cent roads and inner lanes of the village will be constructed with cement concrete, cemented drains, cemented latrines and bathrooms for each and every resident of the village, proper disposal of solid and liquid waste of household.
Other facilities that would be available in such villages are- electricity, clean drinking water, bank branches, insurance under prime minister scheme, education, house and medical facilities for each and every individual of village in the village itself.\
Indore Commissioner Sanjay Dube told ‘The Pioneer’ that the main objective behind starting smart village concept is to check migration from villages. “If the villagers get all the facility of electricity, health education and business in village itself, they would not go to cities,” he added.
Moreover, he counted the drawbacks of migration to cities, saying that nowadays, the cost of living in cities is very high and traffic, pollution, congestion and inflation are other major problems. On the other hand, in village there is zero per cent pollution, clean and green environment, low cost of living, unity, team work and mutual understanding in villages is very high in compare to cities.
