Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University, Jabalpur Vice Chancellor Dr Sita Prasad Tiwari was conferred Honarary Rank of Colonel of NCC and was appointed as Colonel Commandant of NCC of the University for the duration of his tenure as Vice Chancellor.
"The official ceremony for conferring the Honorary Rank of Colonel on Dr Sita Prasad Tiwari, Vice Chancellor, Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University, Jabalpur was held
today in the University Premises," The NCC honours distinguished persons who can
contribute to NCC activities with the rank, which is announced through a gazette notification.
In a befitting ceremonial function Sita Prasad Tiwari was pipped as Colonel of NCC by
Major General AK Mahajan, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh and Brig Navdeep Dahiya, Group Commander NCC Group HQ, Jabalpur.
The VC was handed over the ceremonial baton and a peak cap. He was also given the certificate of appointment issued by Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, AVSM, VSM,
Director General NCC New Delhi on the occasion and later the VC received a Guard of Honour from NCC Cadets of 24 MP Bn NCC.

The honour bestowed today is a recognition of the services towards empowering the nation, he said.
In his acceptance speech, Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University, Jabalpur Vice Chancellor Dr Sita Prasad Tiwari said that he is honoured to be granted the honorary rank of Colonel Commandant by the National Cadet Corps in his capacity as the Vice Chancellor, of the University.
