No BJP role in backing social media campaign: Nandkumar

BJP’s Madhya Pradesh unit president Nandkumar Singh Chouhan on Wednesday claimed that some activists of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) are indulging in ‘love Jehad’.

While replying to a query over certain Hindu outfits going at the concept hammer and tongs on the social media, Chouhan told media persons that SIMI men are engaging in love Jehad, wherein they keep a Hindu name and entrap Hindu girls. later, they get married to these girls and force them to convert their religion.

Refusing that the BJP had a hidden role in supporting such a campaign on social media, he said the BJP supported communal harmony and was not against Muslims. However, he asserted that the BJP was certainly antagonistic to those who are against the country.

“The party is against both terrorism and Naxalism. Most of the terrorists are Muslims. Most of the Naxals are Hindus. The BJP does not differentiate between them. There is no question of providing them shelter or being soft on them,” he said.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking steps to control price rise, he said prices rise either due to administrative failure or due to unavoidable circumstances.

Chouhan pointed out that the current fiscal witnessed less rainfall that led to price rise in the initial period of Modi’s tenure. However, the Centre took measures despite unfavourable circumstances resulting in de-escalation of prices of vegetables, food-grain and diesel.

He said the meeting of the state party executive scheduled to take place on Saturday would discuss normal agenda concerning to strengthen the party.

Chouhan said his role after assuming the reins as the State party chief would be to enhance the coordination between the party and the government with the objective of ensuring that the BJP returned to power for the fourth consecutive term.
