A poetic drama Sifar had an impressive impact over the theatre goers of the city. The play was staged at Antrang Hall, Bharat Bhavan here on Wednesday to give a tribute to a renowned and distinguished theatre personality Alakhnandan.

Written by a noted playwright Puneet Sharma, the play is directed by son of Alakhnandan Anshpayan Sinha. The play is written very minutely keeping in view the imaginary world of a human’s heart. The poetic drama basically is a journey of the spectators through the woman’s heart and her desires.

The most unique and different facet of the play is that, the concept has no end. It stops on the point from where it has started. As it is all about the imagination and the virtual world of a human being, the play focuses on the coordination between the thoughts mind and the softness of the heart.

The story revolves around three characters, Pushkin, Chandrakanta and Pushkin. Basically Pushkin is a poet and a writer, who carves his thoughts on paper so beautifully that it captures the attention of Chandrakanta. Further, Chandrakanta finds herself lost in some other world as she listens to the tender poetry of Pushkin.

The play begins with introducing Pushkin sitting in a poetic mood. He is writing poems and reading them out to Chandrakanta. As she listens to the poems, she finds herself lost in the world of her imagination, where she meets another man named Pushkin. As she enters the imaginary world she realizes that it is so different and unusual than the world of the reality. She sees natural beauty all over. Here she converse with Pushkin of her imagination and on the other hand the real Pushkin tries to take her back in the real world.

Now Chandrakanta is stuck between her imagination and reality. When she realizes the situation formed rest of the play. The mild and serene lighting at the stage created an adoring atmosphere in the hall. Pratibha Singh as Chandrakanta, Hemant Punjabi and Nirmal Tiwari as Pushkin managed to maintain the eagerness of the audience. Notably, this was the opening show of the play.
