After a huge burglary at Nehru market, the victim shopkeepers staged a protest on road blocking the traffic on Friday morning; in which ten shops were burgled and valuables of above `10 lakh was found missing at Nehru market near Nehru hospital under Bairagarh police station area on Thursday.

Traffic came to a halt in the morning on Friday after traders took to roads to protest the burglaries and take action by nabbing the miscreants. They were demanding that measures should be taken to curb the burglaries in the market places.

According to the police on Friday morning when the shopkeepers went to open their shops the shops were found burgled and later owner of Nehru cloth center Pitambar Shivaramani lodged a complaint regarding burglary of valuables and cash from his shop and adjacent shops.

In the market most of the shops are of cloth traders and along with the cash miscreants escaped with clothes. The details of the goods burgled would be provided by the shopkeepers later and would provide the total loss in the burglary.

Shops were not installed with CCTV cameras and the market place was also not having any CCTV camera. The cash from the shops was found missing which suggests that the miscreants were aware about the cash with the shops.

The protesters were pacified after the police intervention and suggestions of the installation of CCTV cameras in the shops and monitoring of market area were given by the police.

After the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
