Amidst the appeal for boycott of Chinese goods on social media, the shopkeepers have devised a new strategy to sell out their already stocked Chinese products including firecrackers and lights.
The firecrackers and lights (series) are used in large scale by the citizens to celebrate Diwali. For decades, China market had captured the Indian markets but due to tension on border with Pakistan and China supporting Pakistan, people have started boycotting the Chinese products.
The firecrackers are being sold out this way on lalwani Press road and Halalpura market and elsewhere in small shops in old and new Bhopal. Besides, the Chinese lights are being sold in almost all the shops in New market, old city markets, Arera Colony, BHEl and Kolar road markets.
Appeals like ‘People should avoid using Chinese products if they love their country’ are doing rounds on social media, particularly on Whatsapp and facebook, with a warning that if somebody purchases Chinese goods, would be considered as traitor.
The Indian Government had banned the Chinese products in the country around three years ago, but still the products are being imported through sea route.
Firecracker wholesalers and vendors have discovered a new way to utilize the Chinese crackers and lights in the market by packing these products into the boxes made by the Indian factories.
The cracker vendors of the city are openly selling out the Chinese cracker along with the crackers made in the Indian factories. The vendors are filling the cheap Chinese crackers such as Rassi bombs, anars, zameen chakris and bullet bombs by packing them in the packets of Indian crackers.
The local vendors generally bring Chinese crackers and lights as they are cheap in comparison to Indian products. However, with a fear of not getting customers of Chinese products, the vendors have started selling the products packed in Indian manufacturers’ packets.
However, the vendors give logic of Chinese products being better in quality.
The vendors say that they had a lot of complaints of 'fussi' (Poor quality) crackers. So anyhow the Chinese crackers are much better than the country made crackers as these crackers are cheap as well as there is less risk of ‘fussi’ crackers. The garland firecracker also known as ‘ladd’, which is considered as the most expensive fire cracker is also available in the market on cheap rate.
According to the health experts, many Chinese fire crackers contain elements like copper, sulphur, aluminium, barium and various other such elements that help in releasing vibrant colors when these crackers are ignited, but later it causes a lot of health problems. Chinese firecracker causes serious health ailments especially for the people suffering from asthma and other respiratory diseases.
