Shobha Oza, the chairperson of Madhya Pradesh State Commission for Women, resigned from her post on Friday morning. Along with his resignation, she has made serious allegations against the BJP government.

Shobha Oza was appointed to this post in the year 2020 during the Congress government.

When the government was overturned and the BJP government was formed, they could not remove her as the chairmanship of the commission is a constitutional position. Shobha Oza's tenure was to end in March next year.

Shobha Oza, in her twitter message said “the sin of sacrificing women's safety for the sake of political selfishness is completely unacceptable and unforgivable, therefore, by abandoning the constitutional obligations of the chairperson of the women's commission, which has been de-empowered, I want to protect women's safety, justice and I will continue to fight for their rights from other forums”.

She said that at present the matter of appointment of the chairman and members of the commission is pending in the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Informing about her resignation, Shobha Oza has also written a letter to state CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in which she said, "I want to make it clear that by trying to dissolve the constitutionally constituted executive of the State Commission for Women, by engaging it in court procedures, your government has done an unjust and unforgivable act of depriving thousands of women of justice.

The sin of sacrificing women's safety and their rights for the sake of political interests is completely unacceptable."

In a close conversation with the media, she accused the BJP and said that ever since this government came, it is not allowing her to work. She said "I am forced to leave my post. With a heavy heart, I am giving my resignation from the post of Chairperson of the State Women's Commission, thereby freeing me from the constitutional obligations of the responsibility of the head of an empowered, powerless commission and will continue my relentless struggle to give voice to the anguish and pain from other forums".
