The children of the State capital explored the beauty of classical dance forms at a dance workshop ‘Shiv Stuti’.
The dance workshop began at Jawahar Bal Bhavan from Monday.
As many as 25 students were a part of this workshop and learned about classical mudras and classical
songs. The workshop is organised to observe the Shiv Maharatri.
In-charge and dance instructor of the workshop Sanchi Taiwade, said, “This classical dance workshop is a bit different from other dance workshops.
Here, the students are not only taught about the basics of the classical dance and mudras based on Shahstriya Shaili, but several other things as well.”
Elaborating further, she said, “There is no particular classical form, which is being taught to the students, in fact there is a small part of each classical form like Bharatnatyam, Kathak, etc.”
She also said that dance is a way to keep the body active. The main motive of this workshop is to enhance different dance forms among children as well as make them learn the face and body expressions.
On asking about teaching the children mixed mudras, but not a single form, Sanchi said, “As the new generation is being exposed to new technologies, the traditions are
left behind. Teaching only any one of the classical
forms would not be fair so we decided to teach them basic steps of the classical dance in mixed expressions and rhythm.”
She also said that dance is a way to keep the body active.
The main motive of this summer dance workshop is
to enhance different dance forms among children as
well as the face and body expressions.
The children enjoy dancing and they are always keen to learn something new. The classical dance form to perform stuti is something really exciting for them, she added.
The students enjoyed the first day of the workshop to the fullest and discovered the magnificence and innocence of classical mudras in the workshop.
