Pattas of land will be given to shanty dwellers on lands being occupied by them to construct houses. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated this while presenting keys of 102 pucca houses built under Integrated Housing and Slums Development Programme on the premises of the enclave for economically weaker sections at Gwalior on Saturday.

The Chief Minister said that the last person in the last row has first right over the State Government. The Government is committed to ensure that every family gets a house and no one sleeps hungry. Government's target is to provide house to every poor person by year 2022. To meet this target, the government is extending loans worth Rs 2.50 lakh each to construct house under IHSDP. Housing projects will also be completed under PPP mode.

The Chief Minister laid emphasis on making youths self-reliant. He said that the State Government will bear expenses on education of weaker section students. Chouhan informed that like SC, STs and OBCs, scholarships are also being given to general category students. Upper income limit of general category students for scholarship has been increased from Rs 55,000 to Rs 1.20 lakh.

Chouhan said that Gwalior will be developed as most beautiful city. Works costing Rs 1,000 crore will be undertaken under AMRUT. He announced opening of new higher secondary school at Bahodapur, waiving off electricity bill surcharge of poor families and naming the housing enclave after former Mayor late Aruna Senya.

Kalawati Jatav from remote village Gandhipur of the district also met the Chief Minister during the programme. Chief Minister saw the women with tears in her eyes standing at a distance and called her to him. He consoled and gave a patient hearing to her. Kalawati said that her son Yashwant Jatav was posted as Gram Rozgar Sahayak in Bhitarwar development block, who died in an accident. Since post of Gram Rozgar Sahayak was temporary, there was no arrangement for compassionate appointment. Shri Chouhan directed that younger son of Kalawai should be given compassionate appointment in local body. He also announced assistance of Rs 1 lakh from CM’s Relief Fund. Grant of Rs 1 lakh has already been made available to Kalawati.

Union Steel and Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that like urban areas, such scheme will also be launched for rural areas from next financial year. He said that the Government will extend all possible assistance for systematic development of the city.
