'Shah was made to quit because he is tribal'

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) alleged on Wednesday that Tribal Welfare Minister Vijay Shah was forced to submit resignation by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government because he belongs to a tribal community.

“Apart from Vijay Shah, there are other ministers like Babulal Gaur and Kailash Vijayvargiya who have made derogatory comments towards the women, but no action has been taken against them. Vijay Shah has been forced to resign because he is a tribal,” said leader of Opposition in MP Assembly Ajay Singh.

Singh said this while addressing a public meet at Amjhor in Shahdol. The meeting was held under the Parivartan Yatra launched by the Congress recently.

Targeting the former Chief Minister Uma Bharti, Ajay Singh said that she has betrayed the people of the State. “When she became the Chief Minister in 2003 she had assured the people that the condition of electricity supply would be improved. But instead of doing that, she left the State and went to Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

Staking claim for the welfare schemes currently under implementation in the State, the opposition leader said that most of the welfare schemes were launched when his father late Arjun Singh was the CM.

The meeting was also addressed by MPCC State President Kantilal Bhuria who said that if the Congress wins in next assembly elections the facility of single-point electricity connection would be re-launched in the State.

“The time has come when the people should demand an explanation from the government about its accomplishment in last nine years,”

Bhuria said.
