BJP president Amit Shah has said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan deserves special compliments for maintaining double digit growth rate and 20 per cent agriculture growth in Madhya Pradesh. He said that best works in farmers’ interests have been undertaken in MP during last 10 years. He said that achieving high growth rate is easy, but it is difficult to maintain it continuously. Chouhan has done this miracle in Madhya Pradesh.
Accusing the Congress of trying to spread falsehood over land acquisition bill, Shah said the legislation is "kisan mitra" (farmer friendly) and not 'anti-farmer' as dubbed by the opposition.
"Congress is trying to spread falsehood and create confusion around the land acquisition bill that it is anti-farmer ... (but) it is 'kisan mitra'," Shah said.
"I want to assure farmers of Madhya Pradesh and the country that no injustice will be done to them in the land acquisition bill," he added.
Shah said that Modi government is well wisher of farmers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed all norms for assistance in favour of farmers for the first time after independence. Earlier, farmers were given relief on 50 per cent crop loss, which has been reduced to 33 per cent now.
He said that Congress played politics for 60 years in the name of farmers. Even now, it is misleading farmers by spreading canards against land Acquisition Bill. He assured farmers that the Bill does not contain even a single anti-farmer provision. land will be acquired for roads, hospitals and other basic amenities, but farmers will be given fulsome compensation. Four-fold compensation will be given in rural areas and two-fold in cities. He said that no injustice with farmers will be allowed.
Shah said that it is being asked as to what Modi government has done during last 11 months. He said that Modi Government has laid a firm foundation for development in the country during last 11 months. Not a single charge of corruption has been made against Modi Government so far. Under Pradhanmantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, bank accounts of over 14 lakh families have been opened and benefits have been ensured to about 60 crore members of these families. He said that Congress-led UPA Government was scarred by scams. Scams to the tune of `12 lakh crore were committed during that regime.
