Leader of Opposition in Bhopal Municipal Corporation and senior Congress councilor Shabista Zaki was attacked by two youths with baseball bats over a dispute over car parking late on Thursday night
The dispute was over the car parking space in front of the house. Zaki's husband and Congress working district president Asif Zaki was also injured in the attack. Both have been admitted to Chirayu Hospital. Both were not in a position to talk at the moment.
Shabista's house is in Shyamala Hills area. Yasir has bought her house. A 'no parking' board was put up on the road in front of it where Shabista's car is parked. Shabista had also complained in the police station on Thursday in the matter. Car parking was done at night after removing the board. Angered by this, Yasir attacked Shabista and her husband Asif Zaki with a baseball bat.
Leader of Opposition Shabista Zaki said that the accused is a supporter of BJP, we have been attacked. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan should now run the bulldozer.
Asif Zaki said that he was at home and was sitting with the sons when a boy came running from outside and said that some people were fighting with Shabista and he rushed to the spot where the accused broke the glass of our car and was abusing the family. The accused also fights in the entire locality. The accused is bullying the locals as he is a supporter of BJP.
Shabista and Asif Zaki received serious head injuries after being hit by a baseball bat. She was immediately taken to Chirayu Hospital.She got sutures in her head.
On receiving information about the attack on Shabista and her husband Congress leaders and workers gathered at the hospital in the night. The supporters protested the attack and demanded strict action against the culprits.
Three-time corporator Shabista is also a lawyer. He has also scored a hat-trick of victories from the same ward. Shabista, 49 years old, has done LLB. The Congress has made him the Leader of the Opposition in the Municipal Corporation.
