The number of sexual assault cases has remarkably increased in Bhopal district, while number of vehicle lifting and robbery cases have been controlled in the past year.
While talking to media persons here on Monday, DIG Bhopal Raman Singh Sikarwar said that in the year 2017, focus would be on curbing the number of vehicle lifting cases.
Sikarwar said that in the past 3-4 years the number of vehicle lifting has witnessed an increase and to control the increasing number strict checking of vehicles has been made which has yielded goods results and more efforts would be made to continue checking of vehicle lifting.
Providing reason behind the increased number of sexual assault cases he said that the increased number of cases is reported due to increase in increase in live in relationships and love affairs.
According to the data the numbers of murders, rapes, dacoity, house break-ins, assaults, vehicle lifting and robberies for the year 2014, 2015 and 2016 are respectively 14997, 15403 and 15902 respectively. The city recorded 243 cases of sexual assault while in the year 2015 they were 168.
Number of burglaries has reported an increase from the year 2015 which witnessed 943 and in the year 201, 982 burglaries have been reported.
In case of chain snatching only 27 cases were registered in the year 2016 while the number was 90 in the year 2015 but trend of overall robberies was found to be increased.
In the year 2015 the number of robberies was recorded at 68 while it increased to 103 in the year 2016. later, Sikarwar flagged off two-wheeler FRVs from the police control room. These vehicles have been allocated to different police stations.
