Sant Hirdaram Nagar based Sewa Sadan eye hospital will remain open from October 30th to November 1, 2016 in the intervening nights of Deepawali festival. In view to treat the injured patients from cracker, this arrangement has been made. Adequate medical staff would be present in the emergency ward during all three nights of diwali festival.
If required, services of an ophthalmologist will also be available on call during said period. It is learnt that on deepawali 2015, as many as 19 patients came for their treatment in hospital. Their eyes were wounded with fire crackers. Treatment was made available to them and their vision and eyes were saved from those accidents.
Medical director of the hospital Dr Prerna Upadhyaya has said that the people should avoid playing fireworks in crowd. Children should accompany their elders, while cracking the fire. They should also keep one or two buckets of water near fire cracking spot. In case of any mis-happening the available water can be used to prevent a big loss. If possible people should wear cotton clothes and keep their eyes safe by using eye glasses.
