Today’s media is extension of human desire. The human race has invented several means of communication but these technological inventions are meant for the expanding the scope of media”, said Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi University of Journalism and Communication Brijkishore Kuthiyala at a seminar on ‘Dimensions, Possibilities and limitations of Media’ organised here by the Vishwa Samvad Kendra.
Emphasizing on the significance and effects of news he said that a journalist should not decide right or wrong influenced by others, instead a journalist should question oneself about the significance and effects of the news.
Senior Journalist and Editor of Hindi daily Nav Duniya Girish Upadhyay expressed his views on ‘Skill Development of Journalists’. He told that the profession of journalism should be accepted as a source of earning livelihood as those who take journalism as mission face abundant practical problems.
The worthiness of news is achieved when news created out of issues ignored by the administration becomes pivotal and attracts attention. The news agencies should investigate the authenticity and credibility of the news before delivering it to any newspaper as they publish the news accepting it as true, he added.
“It is not possible to expose the truth every time according to a reporters desire, but it happens only in 10 cases out of 100 while you are free for presenting the truth 90 times,” said the Deputy Executive Producer of Zee news Rohit Sardana while expressing his views on Anchoring and Reporting (Ethics and Practices) during the seminar.
He shared his experience of reporting on Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev and Prince (bore well) incident. Practical approach cannot be ignored in journalism and the young journalists should understand the importance of image and their responsibilities.
One can be a reporter, producer, program producer but at the same time language, practical knowledge and observation of news makes a great anchor claimed Sardana.
