Security arrangements for the first phase of urban bodies elections 2014 scheduled on November 28 have been completed.
In the first phase voting would be conducted at 5573 polling centres in nine Municipal Corporations, 26 Municipal Councils and 100 Nagar Parishads.To conduct free and fair elections around 44 gazetted officers, 32,040 officials and police personnel, 9,680 personnel of Home Guard, 250 personnel of GRP, 1,450 personnel of PTS, 630 officials and personnel of Battalion Head Quarters and 17 companies of Special Armed Forces have been deployed.
For maintaining law and order during urban bodies election from November 2 till date bound over action against 51413 persons have been taken and bound down action was taken against 3112.Under the preventive action externment of 502 persons was done while action under NSA was taken against 73 persons.licensed weapons under the first phase of elections have been surrendered by the licensee and along with the surrender of licensed weapons, 774 illegal arms and weapons, 122 cartridges and 8 bombs were seized under other minor Acts.
