The manager of a private security services was nabbed by Hanumanganj police and nine wireless sets were recovered from his possession which were illegally operated. The recovery of wireless sets is being seen as a major lapse in security before the visit of the BJP national president on May 10 in the State Capital.

A 12-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising officials of Military Intelligence, Intelligence Bureau and Madhya Pradesh police has been formed to investigate into the matter.

The accused Vaqar Khan owns Defend Security Services, which was using excess number of wireless sets without procuring any permission. Moreover, the frequency of wireless sets was matching to those of police and Army.

SHO Bhupendra Singh of Hanumanjganj said the accused was booked for fraud by Shahjehanabad police and last year he was booked for operating a security service agency which was working without procuring any requisite permission.

Vaqar owned around 18 wireless sets and he has burnt few sets after he sensed that he was tracked by the police. The accused used to operate the services from Bhopal Plaza shopping complex, near Bhopal talkies square and used to provide security to big wigs and has also provided security to the celebrities visiting the city.

The recovered wireless sets were operational on the same frequency of police and Army which suggests that the offender received the information regarding security arrangements made for the visit of BJP national president Amit Shah.

During the investigation it was found that the accused was aware of the details of the rehearsals conducted by police before the Shah’s visit.

According to the police, Telecommunication Inspector KK Tripathi lodged a complaint with the Hanumanganj police regarding unauthorised use of six wireless sets and based on the complaint a case under Section 3 and 6 of Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act was registered.
