'Secular forces should join hands to defeat BJP'

Published on:

Secular forces should join hands to support the Congress in the upcoming lok Sabha elections to beat the BJP which is out spreading communal, said convener of Election Management Committee State Congress committee and former president of State minority commission Mohd Ibrahim Qureshi.

The campaign driven by Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and senior BJP leaders aims to disrupt the communal fabric and weaken the democratic framework, he added.

Congress lead central and State Governments have provided ample opportunities for minorities by implementing 15 point programme but the BJP-ruled States including Madhya Pradesh have neglected the minority communities and the programmes funded by UPA for the minorities never reach the beneficiaries. In Madhya Pradesh the state government retreated from implementing recommendations of Sachar Committee.

The senior Congress leader praised the tenure of Congress in MP, where strong foundation for harmony among different communities was developed and maintained the bonding. He appealed the people to vote for Congress as the party has been successful in maintaining  friendliness and progress of minorities and would maintain the same in future. The lok Sabha constituency Congress candidate PC Sharma is one of the candidates, who has been endorsed by Qureshi.

Praising Sharma, Qureshi said that he is a well wisher of minority communities and a competent leader. For the progress and peace Sharma remains active and always lends helping hand at times of emergency and crisis. The party workers should unite and work and prove that people devoted towards working for public interest are supported.
