Succumbing to RSS pressure, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State has transferred Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) of Jhabua Rakesh Vyas for allegedly thrashing a Sangh volunteer, while TI Karni Singh has been line attached.
Vyas became another State Police Service officer who has faced action for taking action against RSS workers. He bore the brunt for alleged beating of RSS workers after their arrest at Petlawad in Jhabua district.
Vyas has been shifted to Indore and attached to IG office. The action has come after demonstrations were held in Petlawad and Jhabua towns, demanding action against the police officials for booking RSS workers.
This is the second such incident when MP police top brass has buckled under RSS pressure and has taken action against an officer. A similar incident had taken place recently in Balaghat too.
Half-a-dozen police officers including an Additional SP, an inspector and other policemen were booked and suspended in Balaghat. They were accused of beating up an RSS leader in Baihar police station.
In Jhabua, police had taken action after there was tension during religious processions. Hindu Jagran Manch and RSS workers claimed that their workers were beaten up.
They organised protest marches and later a bandh was called in both the towns. It was demanded that the cases should be withdrawn and the arrested workers be released immediately.
Also, the police had got the protests videographed and later registered fresh FIR for the demonstrations. This had further angered RSS workers. Initially, the State Government seemed to be reluctant in taking action, but later on Tuesday the SDOP was removed.
