Narmada Valley Development Minister Surendra Singh Baghel has taken strong action on collapse of the left canal of Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi Sagar (Bargi) dam near Gotegaon in Narsinghpur district on Tuesday. On the instructions of Minister Baghel, the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer and Deputy Engineer have been suspended with immediate effect considering the incident as a matter of serious negligence,.
Baghel has sent an investigation team from the Authority headquarters immediately to the spot for investigation of the incident. The team comprising Superintending Engineer, RM Sharma and Executive Engineer Vinod Sarraf will examine the reasons for the collapse of canal and submit the report to the departmental minister in three days.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday, May 28, the collapse of left canal resulted in uncontrollable flow of a large amount of water in Gotegaon / Bagaspur area and waterlogging in many fields of the area. Some houses also got damaged. After receiving information about the incident, Baghel sought information about the incident from Narsinghpur Collector.
On the instructions of Minister Baghel, orders for the suspenion of concerned officer NK Sondhia, SDO, Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi Sagar, Canal Sub Division, Bagaspur and Sub Engineer Ravindra Kumar Dhawan. Baghel has told the engineers to work with caution and awareness to avoid recurrence of such an incident.
