There is a scope to create 11 lakhs new jobs in both organised and unorganised sectors across Madhya Pradesh (MP) in coming five years.
As about 30 per cent of the State’s total population is in the age group of 15-30 years and even the employment rate in MP declined from about 39.5 per cent to about 36.3 per cent during 2009-10 and 2011-12 thereby spurting significant demand for employment across the State, apex industry body ASSOCHAM said on Monday.
“Under dynamic leadership Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh has registered robust economic growth rate of almost nine per cent as against the national average of about eight per cent during 2004-05 and 2012-13, besides the State has clocked highest growth rate of about seven per cent in the agriculture sector which is almost double the national average of about 3.7 per cent and fourth highest industrial growth rate of 10.1 per cent higher than national growth rate of 7.9 per cent during the same period," highlighted the study prepared by the ASSOCHAM Economic Research Bureau (AERB). In a note submitted to the state government, the chamber Secretary General DS Rawat has suggested a 10 point detailed ‘Action-Agenda for
New Government of Madhya Pradesh: Towards double digit inclusive growth’ said, "Though combined workforce engaged in both industry and services sectors has increased from 1.03 crore to 1.2 crore during 2004-05 and 2011-12, there is still tremendous scope to create more jobs in these sectors as major chunk (73 per cent) of the total workforce in MP is engaged in agriculture and allied activities alone, while the industrial sector accounts for just about 18 per cent of the total workforce participation and the services sector accounts for the remaining share".The ASSOCHAM projection is based upon the simple regression model according to which the assumption of employment generation is largely dependent on economic growth which has immediate effect on job creation.
With a view to spur job creation in MP, ASSOCHAM has recommended the State Government to promote non-crop activities like poultry, dairying, fisheries, horticulture, floriculture, animal husbandry and others in the agriculture and allied activities' sector, ensure adequate and timely credit supply at reasonable cost and ensure social security on a short-term basis. ASSOCHAM has also proposed to partner the state government to implement and achieve the objective of its vision document for MP.
