Scindia loyalist Tomar goes barefoot with pledge to serve people, Cong cries gimmick

A staunch Jyotiraditya Scindia loyalist, Pradyumn Singh Tomar is moving barefoot in his constituency with a pledge of serving the people. He evaded using footwear to resolve the issues of public in Gwalior.

While he is among the front runner in getting Cabinet berth, he told that if he is offered a berth, he will reach Raj Bhavan barefooted to take oath saying public’s pain on display should be exhibited everywhere.

Pradyumn joined the BJP as his political idol Scindia had deserted the Congress in March this year. A Minister in Kamal Nath Government, Tomar had not only resigned from MP Assembly but also had shunned his ministerial berth.

Sources claim that among other Scindia loyalists, Tomar is also hopeful of a Cabinet berth in the Shivraj Government. This is not the first time the former Minister had caught eyeballs with his unique activity as in the past being the Minister he was often seen sweeping roads and even cleaning stinky drains in Gwalior region. Recently his son had misbehaved with some policemen in Gwalior over lockdown violation and the Minister was quick to make his son apologise to the men in uniform and as penance, made his son clean public toilets and garden the next day.

Recently, the ex-Minister has pledged to resolve public issues of his constituency primarily shortage of potable water and has decided to remain barefooted unless the problem is resolved. For doing so, he is roaming around without footwear despite 45 degree C plus temperature in the region.

However, his political opponents are alleging that Tomar craves for publicity and often resorts to such gimmicks to hog limelight. He is doing this to garner attention amid talks of Cabinet expansion in the State, said a senior Congress leader.

Tomar represented Gwalior Assembly constituency and his pledge also comes around a time when the seat has fallen vacant due to his resignation and bypoll is awaited.
