Scientific officers should get accurate reports by using new technology and equipment, said DGP Sudhir Saxena at the inauguration two-day seminar on the subject of upgradation of all FSLs (Forensic Science Laboratories) of Madhya Pradesh.
In the seminar, a detailed discussion will be held basically about the simplification, uniformity, use of new techniques and equipment in the test reports of FSL.
The program was presided over by GP Singh, Additional Director General of Police, Technical Services and Crime Investigation Department, Police Headquarters Bhopal. Director FSL Shashikant Shukla (IPS) and other officers were present on the occasion.
DGP Saxena said in his address that the faith of the honorable courts has shifted from oral evidence to scientific evidence. Very soon there will be a change in the law that forensic evidence will be made mandatory in cases where the punishment is more than six years.
He said that more than 600 cases are being tested by the DNA branch in Madhya Pradesh, which is a matter of joy, but the pendency of DNA cases in the state is more than 9000, which needs to be reduced. That is why a new DNA lab is going to start in Gwalior within a month. Along with this, an additional DNA lab is going to be started in Bhopal in about three months.
After the recruitment of 44 scientific officers in the laboratories of Madhya Pradesh as soon as possible, it is expected that efforts will be made to reduce the pendency rapidly. Efforts will be made in this seminar to prepare the test report of FSL in very precise and simple language. The DGP also said that there is a great need for honesty in FSL.
