Schools need to run special courses and earmark extra time to bridge the learning gap, Super 30’s Super Mathematician Anand Kumar told media persons on the sidelines of Yuva Mahotsava -2022 at the Ravindra Convention Centre in the city on Wednesday.
He cautioned that unless the governments make conscious efforts, the learning gap in students caused by the Covid pandemic would handicap them for life.
Kumar said that the long closure of schools due to the pandemic has led to students' significant loss of learning. “Online classes were not effective because online teaching demands special skills which the teachers lacked at that time,” he said.
During the session, Anand called upon the students, who occupied every inch of the auditorium, through a PowerPoint Presentation, that a powerful thirst for knowledge, positive thinking, hard work, and most importantly boundless patience were sure-shot recipes for success.
Blaming squarely the parents for Children’s addiction to mobile and television, he said “If the parents will be indulged in FB, Twitter, and WhatsApp the whole day, how they expect their children to keep away from mobiles”.
The event was organised by Pratigya Samaj Sewa Kalyan Samiti, Bhopal. Besides Anand, many well-known personalities from different fields including former IAS and IPS officers, sports persons, artists and media persons were felicitated.
