Scholarships worth Rs 68.91 crore was provided to about 20.87 lakh Scheduled Caste girl students upto Class X in the State last year. Scheduled Castes Welfare Department has made initial provision of Rs 50 crore for this scholarship in year 2013-14 budget.
The department has distributed scholarship worth Rs 12.19 crore to 7.52 lakh girl students upto Class V and Rs 56.72 crore to 13.35 lakh girl students of class 6th to 10th. The State Government has abolished income limit for getting scholarship.
Minister of State for Scheduled Castes Welfare Harishankar Khatik has directed department officers to get cent per cent Scheduled Caste girls admitted in schools in new academic session.
