Scattered light to moderate showers witnessed across State

In the past 24-hours, several parts of Western Madhya Pradesh received light to moderate rainy spells. The remaining parts of the State also witnessed scattered light rains. However, the State capital could not get rains in past 24 hours.

According to weathermen, these rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which has been persisting over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining areas. Due to this weather system, the moisture feed increased over the western parts of Madhya Pradesh particularly over districts such as Ratlam, Ujjain, Indore, and Khandwa, they added.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, Ujjain witnessed 18 mm of moderate rain, Ratlam 16 mm and Indore 12 mm of rain.

In the same span of time, Shajapur witnessed light rain of 6 mm, Dhar and Mandla 3 mm, Raisen 1 mm, Pachmarhi 0.6 mm and Bhopal 0.2 mm of rain.

It is anticipated that scattered light rains will continue over southern parts of the state such as Betul, Hoshangabad, Khandwa, Indore, Bhopal, Shajapur, Seoni and Mandla. These scattered showers are likely to continue for the next two to three days over the southern parts adjacent to Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, Monsoon will remain subdued over the northern districts such as Gwalior, Datia, Khajuraho. Mainly dry weather conditions will prevail with partly cloudy sky. As on September 3, West Madhya Pradesh is rain deficient by 20 per cent and East Madhya Pradesh by 26 per cent. With more rains likely over the western parts of the state, the rain deficiency may reduce.
