Shades, a solo exhibition by Satya Dheer Singh is captivating the attention of the art lovers of the city. Being put up at Alliance Francaise de Bhopal’s Art Gallery, the exhibition began from Saturday.

The exhibition is all about creativity at its best. Satya Dheer has recreated the childhood dreams of a middle class family. The vibrant use of colours is the essence of these paintings. The painting exhibition will be on view till June 23. A child’s dreams usually are connected with fantasy. The simple joys and desires of a common man is what Satya Dheer has portrayed through his paintings. The very usual dreams through an unusual view point give his paintings a touch of excellence.

While explaining about his paintings, Satya Dheer Singh said, “I usually create my paintings keeping in view the perceptions and desires of a common man. Usually viewers can observe short incidents happening in their daily life in my creations.” Satya Dheer has a unique style of projecting images. His acrobatically free hand draws figures in a way that is humorous and exaggerated. The stretched and extended limbs with their theatrical gestures are the aspiration of a common man who tries to reach the unattainable.

The same sense of freedom can be seen in his compositional structure and application of colours that are invested with intensity and vigor. The eclectic mix of bright colours combined with light regions maintains a balance in opposition and thus heightens the effect of drama. In the same way, spaces are punctuated by contrasting colours to shift one scene to another. This fine sense of sharp contrast in the constant play of life’s drama gives viewer an equal measure of delight with the artist.
