Public Works Minister Sartaj Singh has said that accountability for quality of ongoing construction works will be fixed at every level.
For this, special powers are being delegated to chief engineers and superintending engineers. Apart from providing vehicles to SDOs for constant monitoring of ongoing works, vehicle allowance will be given to sub-engineers. Sartaj Singh was reviewing departmental activities here on Wednesday. The PWD Minister said that executive engineers, SDOs and sub-engineers will have to submit fortnightly reports of ongoing works to ensure constant monitoring.
Powers to ensure disciplinary action against sub-engineers and SDOs are being delegated to chief engineers and superintending engineers so that action can be taken at rapid pace in the field. Sartaj Singh also directed to complete process of required number of sub-engineers within time-limit. He directed chief engineers and superintending engineers to undertake constant monitoring of ongoing construction works in backward areas under their respective jurisdictions.
Principal Secretary Public Works KK Singh, Engineer-in-Chief Akhilesh Agrawal and other officers were present on the occasion and attended the meeting.
