Minister of State for Cooperatives (Independent Charge) Vishwas Sarang expressed displeasure over not adopting strict approach in the cases of Cooperative Housing Societies on Saturday.
Sarang said that the department should adopt procedure to ensure plot to the eligible members and jail to the dishonest office-bearers. He was reviewing the complaints received against the cooperative housing societies at Mantralaya.
Sarang said that a person buys plot in the society after raising money during entire life time. Since cooperative department is linked to this, hence it is our duty to ensure that the image of the department do not get spoiled due to malpractices in the societies. Sarang further said that it is necessary to provide plots to the eligible members within time limit and they should not be cheated. He expressed dissatisfaction over the procedure adopted by the department in this regard.
The Minister Sarang mentioned that there are sufficient provisions under the Madhya Pradesh Cooperative Society Act to take action against the societies indulged in malpractices. There is provision of 3 years imprisonment and upto 5 lakh penalty under the Act. No negligence will be tolerated towards these provisions. Sarang further mentioned that he will hold a meeting in this regard on December 2 again. Officers should attend the meeting with all the information related to complaints against cooperative housing societies. Moreover, also inform under which rule action should be taken against them. He said that he will not let any eligible member of the society without plot.
