Sant Nirankari Mission organised a huge blood donation camp here as part of observance of 'Manav Ekta Diwas' (Human Unity Day) in the sacred memory of Baba Gurbachan Singh Maharaj who laid down his life for upholding the cause of peace, harmony and universal brotherhood on 24 April 1980. The camp was inaugurated by Indian Railways Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer Sameer Sehgal in the presence of hundreds of Nirankari volunteers who came in large numbers to donate their blood. The camp was conducted under the supervision of experts from Hamidia Hospital.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion Sehgal highlighted the rich spiritual heritage of our motherland and  emphasized the need to adopt the principle of ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam’. He greatly appreciated the dedication, enthusiasm and fervour of nirankaris who came forward to donate their blood to save lives of fellow beings. He termed it as one of the noblest method of selfless service.  Extolling the Nirankari Mission for organising such humanitarian activities and helping the needy, regardless of their caste, community and creed, the senior officer congratulated the blood donors for their act of sacrifice setting a worthy example to emulate.

Presiding over the function, the Sanyojak of Bairagarh branch of  Sant Nirankari Mission Mahesh Widhani said that Baba Gurbachan singh ji travelled in the country and abroad to spread the message of love, peace and human unity.  He said that it is ironical that today we see communal tension and hatred and even bloodshed on the name of religion.
