Sanchi kiosks encroach city's roads, footpaths

Published on:

The mushrooming Sanchi parlours across the city are encroaching the city as these are not placed by procuring proper permission from the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), the property owners and other agencies which own the land. These milk parlour kiosks have been placed on roads and footpaths, leading to problems to commuters and locals.

The increased number of milk booths and parlour are witnessed on JK Road, Ashoka Garden, Gulmohar, Kolar Road, Saket Nagar and several parts of old city.

Before opening a milk parlour, no objection certificate (NOC) need to be procured from the property owner and BMC but these parlours are were placed arbitrarily at roads and footpaths encroaching and leading to the traffic congestion.

Around 90 per cent of the booths were placed either on BMC and Revenue Department land, but without procuring NOC from the BMC.

In the past, six months around 300 milk parlours have come up, which would be inspected as most of them have been placed violating the rules and encroaching leading to public discomfort.

CEO of MP Dairy Federation RK Durawar said that for the opening of milk parlour or booth, permission is granted according to the rules and regulation. He claimed that no rule has been violated while providing permission to these milk parlour or booth.

Additional Commissioner of the BMC GP Mali said that the permission for opening of milk parlours or booths on roads and footpaths is never provided and those who have placed their booths at such places would be inspected and action would be taken against the errant milk parlours.

BMC Commissioner has issued instructions to investigate the matter which would be conducted within two weeks.
