Madhya Pradesh Marathi Sahitya Academy, along with Directorate of Culture, will organise musical event ‘Diwali Pahat’, to celebrate Diwali at Ganesh Temple on Wednesday at 6.30 am.
Marathi Sahitya Academy Director Ashwin Khare said there is a tradition of celebrating Roopa Chaturdashi, a day before Diwali, among the community. People visit temple before the dawn to invoke god to bestow on them beauty and magnetism.
Goa’s renowned singer Sumidha Desai will adorn the occasion with her traditional Marathi music. She has performed in events like P Jitendra Abhisheki Sangeet Festival, Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Music Festival, and Ganan Tapaswini Mogubai Kurdikekar Smriti Sangeet Sammelan. She has been honored with the best vocalist award in the Maharashtra State drama competition. Desai will be accompanied by Akshay Jadhav on Tabla and Upkar Godbole on Harmonium. The programme is open for everyone.
