Sahayog Group, a leading business group in Madhya Pradesh operates through one of its arms, Sahayog Clean Milk Private limited (SCMPl) which has the potential of achieving a new high in white revolution. Dairy activities have been most prominent in India’s rural economy since ages. India is world’s largest producer of milk and dairy products despite having one of the lowest per animal milk production. Milk is one of the most important source of all kinds of nutrition. Considering these facts, optimising the milk output of the cattle remains to be the area of the concern in dairy industry and livestock management, while opening a strong opportunity of providing year round, sustainable income to millions of small farmers.
SCMPl, which is a subset of the larger Sahayog Group, connects the finance and dairy through training support. With the company’s empirical cattle management methods and good quality feeds and supplements, the milk producing capacity of the cattle is significantly increasing. Amount of milk collected in the area earlier when SCMPl was at a concept stage was 2,000 litres per day, and now it has shot up to whopping 55,000 litres, thanks to Sahayog’s integrated business model. Sahayog Clean Milk Pvt ltd (SCMPl) has set up comprehensive milk collection centre network and Milk Chilling and processing plant in various districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Currently, 250 PMCs are operational which cover more than 350 villages in the districts of Harda, Dewas, Hoshangabad, Khandwa and Sehore. By the end of this financial year, Sahayog Dairy plans to expand in 450 villages in Madhya Pradesh. When asked how the company was successful in achieving the milestones, Managing Director, Sahayog Clean Milk Anand Patidar, said, “The key is to provide opportunities for the under-privileged. We stick to our noble cause. Our business model combines financial inclusion: microfinance and other financial services, livelihood training support and milk collection. All these factors have collectively helped to grow milk production in the district. We have thus achieved our target.”
