On the fourth day of Round Square International Conference 2014 being organised at The Sanskar Valley School, renowned author and writer Sagarika Ghosh interacted with the delegates.
Here on Wednesday, while addressing the conference Sagarika Ghosh spoke about ‘Need For Togetherness’. She said that it is important to work as a team for togetherness. While sharing her experience in journalism, Sagarika said that collective efforts are needed between India and other countries.
As Sagarika was addressing the delegates she also focused over various issues that have to be looked into critically. She said that in India a change is required in the Justice System. Elaborating more about it, she said that no doubt justice is given but too late.
While giving the example of Jessica lal murder case, Sagarika said that the court earlier gave a verdict in favour of the culprits but after the people stood together, the court reopened the case and through suo motu action gave the final verdict. This was the first time when suct activism was observed in the society.
She then also gave example of Nirbhaya Rape Case and said that this case also changed the mindset of the people. Slowly and gradually, the society is overlooking the superstitious beliefs related to women and again the women are gaining respect. She further said that the movement by Anna Hazare also brought few changes in the society and after this movement the activism in the society has increased which is commendable, she added.
As Sagarika signed off with her speech, the students and the delegates had an interesting interacting session with Sagarika. A questionnaire session was held and the students cleared their queries.
While addressing the delegates in the questionnaire session, Sagarika said that one should be clear about his or her aim and to step towards the goal one should be focused on what he or she has to achieve. She further advice the delegates that before aiming one should have a strong preparation as things done in haste does not give success, so a strong preparation is always needed.
