While the process for paddy procurement process is yet to commence in Madhya Pradesh, a private company, SagarAgri, has come out with the warehouse facility in 23 cities of the State.

In an official statement, the company stated that StarAgri has a network of 800+ warehouses across India including in 23 cities of Madhya Pradesh - Gwalior, Bhopal, Indore Itarsi, Katni, Ratlam with main office in Indore. They have very stringent selection process for taking warehouses on lease. For their warehouses, StarAgri ensures that the construction is in compliance with Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority -WDRA norms and guidelines, the statement added.

Madhya Pradesh is a farming oriented agrarian economy State. The major crops of Madhya Pradesh are wheat, soybean, gram, sugarcane, rice, maize, cotton, rapeseed, mustard and arhar. Minor Forest Produce (MFP), such as tendu leaves used to roll beedi, sal seed, teak seed, and lak also contribute to state’s rural economy.

lack of access to modern post harvest technology, inadequate storage infrastructure and missing linkages between post harvest downstream activities trap farmers.  Also these lead to large amount of food grains being wasted in the country.

With the idea of curbing wastage and helping farmers optimise crop value, StarAgri warehousing and Collateral Management Company were born.  The objective of creating a network of warehouses - either owned or lease based was to manage this problem effectively.

StarAgri covers the entire post-harvest value chain and are therefore a one stop solution for clients. Besides their core services, they also provide allied services like cargo insurance, and market intelligence services.  StarAgri invites all farmers from Madhya Pradesh to take advantage of StarAgri’s Warehousing facilities and finance.
