A painting exhibition Sacred Geometry by an eminent artist Neha Sharma would be put up at Alliance Francaise de Bhopal’s Art Gallery.

Organised by Alliance Française de Bhopal the exhibition will be inaugurated here on Saturday at 6 pm by a noted poet and prose writer Shashank. Notably, the programme would be followed with a poetry recital by Sangeeta Gundecha. Notably, Neha Sharma works from her studio in Delhi and has been a spontaneous worker in Fine Arts. Neha participated in workshops in Cochin, Mumbai and an artist camp in Turkey and has been affiliated as Visiting Artist Beaux-Arts Nantes (France).

Neha while talking about her works said, “I wish as a painter to explore moments and forms wherein seemingly life and non life, ritual and infinity come together.”She further says, “In recent years my preoccupation as an artist and painter has been on the fluid margins of the real and imagined. To be on these fluid margins is to seek fleetingly few moments of intimacy between thin edges of the visionary and non visionary, subjective and the  objective in and of life. It brings into question   in enigmatic ways, the so called logical existence and the whole structure of oppositions: scientific and non rational, fiction and reality, conscious and un-conscious, life and non-life.”

I speak of ‘fluid margins’ and ‘thin edges’ from the experience I most vividly remember of painting the series ‘Dancers of the Dark’. Other works I have done have been moved by something similar even though their gestures, energy and rhythm may seem strikingly different. It brings me to questions I can only dimly formulate. For instance: the play between optical consciousness and unconsciousness; meaning of symbolism, magical and mystical; unceasing play between cultural and natural. I feel deeply drawn towards certain anthropological concerns and questions that rubrics like primitivism or animism carry,” says Neha. The exhibition would be on view till January 25 at the Alliance Francaise de Bhopal’s Gallery.
