Yukti Samaj Sewa Society organised a daylong training programme on Right To Information (RTI) last week at the Swaraj Bhawan of village Dolariya at Itarsi, Hoshangabad district.

Member of the State level committee of the Panchayat and rural development department and well known RTI activist from the State capital Ajay Dube and director of centre for development and harmony, Father Jacob were especially present on the occasion.

Besides awakening the villagers and the sweepers working at the Itarsi junction with RTI and MNREGA, the authorities concerned were made to clear the pending payments of the beneficiaries under the MNREGA.

The occasion was also utilized to get the job cards and passbooks kept illegally at the Panchayat offices.

The programme was attended by the representatives of rural development organisations from Palanpur, Dolariya, Dudugaon, Patlai Kalan, Mohari, Amupura, Mangwari, Berakhedi, Shel, Jaitpur and Bamuriya.

Dube informed the participants in detail about the RTI and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).

“All the departments of the Government, officials and employees are accountable towards people. We can get any information from any department within 30 days, for this we just need to submit an application on plain paper with a fee of `10,” Dube said.

Dube further said that the MNREGA gives guarantee of providing 100 days employment in a year to every family.

Dube also heard the problems of the villagers and workers who have worked under the MNREGA and immediately after listening their woes officials concerned were appraised with the problems.

The impact was quick as the Panchayat Inspector immediately reached the training venue and distributed the job cards and initiatives were taken for resolving other issues.
