Continuing his tirade against the State Government over the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, Right to Information (RTI) activist Ajay Dubey fired another salvo by asking as to why Ashok Pandey was made chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) despite his not having a good confidential report.
Dubey in a statement here on Monday said, "The documents obtained by us through RTI expose how Pandey was made chairman of the MPPSC by setting aside all norms. The criteria of high level eligibility were literally ignored for making him chairman of the commission in which he has earlier remained member and legal officer."
Dubey further said that on an earlier occasion also Pradeep Joshi was made the chairman of the commission without following the selection method. It appears that compromise with the eligibility has finished the credibility of the MPPSC, he added.
He said that these days large-scale irregularities are exposed every day in the examinations conducted by the MPPSC and MPPEB proving to be a blot on the name of the State besides ruining career of lakhs of innocent youth of the State. The irregularities that have come to fore till now and probably would be exposed in the future also state that the head of these institutions should be fixed that is not done, he added.
The RTI activist said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan decided to make the then legal officer Pandey as the member of the Commission on September 29, 2008. Transparency was not adopted in this appointment neither any discussion was held over his eligibility for the post that is essential for this sensitive post, he added.
He said that as per the documents provided by MP High Court to the State Government over Pandey's appointment his last five years' CR was of B and C category and was also warned on November 29, 2004 for claiming wrong number of cases. Despite getting this negative report, the Chief Minister appointed Pandey on the sensitive post that was unprincipled and amounted to deceiving the people. It is due to this negligence large-scale irregularities are continuing, he added.
