Rights activist from the city Ajay Dubey in a letter to Director General of Police Surendra Singh on Saturday demanded to order inquiry in the illegal installation of electronic spying gadgets in the office of Special Task Force (STF).

Dubey in his letter to the DGP said, "As you must be aware that STF has installed electronic gadgets in its office to spy on its officials and accused persons during the interrogation and investigation in Vyapam Scam. I would like to request you to declare high level inquiry in this matter without any delay because such act of STF is unethical and untrustworthy."

Dubey further asked Singh to consider for inquiry that ADG STF Sudhir Shahi, started investigation in VYAPAM Scam from August 2013 has taken professional services of Prashant Pandey from Indore to install spying electronic gadgets at office of STF to spy on the officers and the persons accused in the Scam. Here a question arises that under whose direction and which law he has taken such stepIJ It also shows that he did not trust his own officers, which put a question mark on the competence of the STF. It has also violated the rights of the persons allegedly involve in the Scam, he added.

He said that Shahi should be questioned that how the gadgets were purchased and how much money was spent on them and what was the procedure adoptedIJ Please also find that whether those gadgets are still functional or removed.

He said in April 2014 MP High Court started the monitoring of the investigation conducted by the STF so have they taken permission from the HCIJ

He said Supreme Court has ordered on July 9, 2015 to conduct CBI inquiry of Vyapam Scam. Under this order it is mandatory for STF to provide complete information to CBI and hand over the related documents and evidences but they have still not handed over voice recording and video footage taken from spying gadgets, to the CBI.

He said “I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the whistleblower of vyapam scam and CM of Madhya Pradesh has always showed commitment for fair inquiry but the STF has ignored his commitment”.
