A sum of Rs1 lakh was burgled from a contractor’s residence in Krishna Nagar colony under Gautam Nagar police station area on Thursday. According to the police, the victim Sameer Siddiqui found Rs 1 lakh missing from his house. After failing to find the money he lodged a complaint with the Gautam Nagar police.
The victim claimed that he had kept Rs 1 lakh around 8-10 days ago and when he checked for the cash, it was not in the almirah, where he had kept. He asked with the family but the family members expressed ignorance on the whereabouts of the money. Investigating Officer SI MP Dhurve said that the victim had brought money on May 26 and when he checked the money on Thursday he found that the money was missing. The investigation has been started and more details would be revealed after the statements of the family and friends are recorded.
Dhurve said that the victim works as a contractor and used to keep money for construction purpose and the money was kept for making payment but when he checked the money was found missing. The labours and supervisors who work for the victim would be questioned as it is possible that they might have passed the information knowingly or incidentally to some outsider.
Police suspects that some insider has hinted about the money as other valuables were not disturbed. The victim has claimed that he had brought the money from his relatives in Jhansi. The police have registered a case under section 457 and 380 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
