Rs 10k-cr anti-malnutrition funds misused, says Opp

Misuse of over Rs 10,000 crore meant for eradicating malnutrition by the State Government has led to death of thousands of children alleged leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ajay Singh on Saturday.

Singh in a statement said the myth of development by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan led Government has exposed with the death of two children due to malnutrition in the hospitals of State capital.

It is a matter of shame for the State Government, which claims to spend Rs 1200 crore every year in eradicating malnutrition, that two children die of malnutrition in the State capital only.

He further said that according to the report of National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) Hyderabad, 55.80 per cent children of State capital suffer from malnutrition and 21 per cent children from severe malnutrition, it also raises question that if such is the condition of children in State capital then what would be the condition of children residing in far flung areas of State, it seems the condition of children in far flung areas of State will be similar to Ethiopia.

Moreover, condition of children in Satna, Badwani, Umaria, Alirajpur, Dindori and Sheopur is very critical.

According to Government records, Bharatiya Janata Party led State Government has spend Rs 3046 crore alone in last four years but, still 16 lakh children in the State are malnourished and 1.5 lakh among them are severely malnourished.

State Government has no inclination to eradicate malnutrition. It is evident enough from the JP hospital incident where since death of a child from severe malnutrition two state government departments are at logger's head.  BJP has used the malnutrition eradication money for their personal benefits.
