'Round-the-clock power supply in State by May'

Published on:

Mounting an attack on the main Opposition Congress in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, Energy Minister Rajendra Shukla today said former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh is mentally disturbed as the unprecedented will power of the State regime and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has resulted in realisation of the dream of round-the-clock electricity supply in the State.

"Congress leaders are unable to digest this success as, during the Singh-led Congress government's tenure, villages faced up to 18 hours' daily power cuts for a decade," he told media persons. The Congress wished to make power an issue in the year-end Assembly elections, Shukla said while adding that the regime is set to achieve the target of supplying round-the-clock electricity by May. "As a consequence, Singh and other Congress leaders are levelling baseless power linked allegations. The target of supplying round-the-clock electricity was not set with an eye on the polls. Madhya Pradesh is a power surplus state and will remain so until 2018," he said.SR
