Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhopal is organising an Online Summer Nature Study Programme (Green Teen) from June 14 to 25, 2021.

Manik Lal Gupta, Scientist –C and programme coordinator of the museum gave detailed information about the Bats of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to the participants today i.e. June 16, 2021. Nearly 80 participants from all over the country joined in this programme.

During the programme, Manik Lal Gupta informed about the Nature of Bats, their types, habitats, distribution and their food to the participants.

He also briefed that they are less noticed by masses since they are nocturnal in nature, so their information is meagre and hence, also linked with many myths as they suck human blood and are very harmful for them. But bats can never infect humans because they never come in direct contact with them.

In the end of the session, he made an appeal to masses to do not perceive bats as harmful as they help us in seed dispersal and cleaning our environment by feeding pests & mosquitoes.
