The Nagpur Division of the Western Railways was still facing problems to normalise the train schedules after the railway track had washed out on July 19.
The passengers were left marooned after the incident as lack of proper communication was prevalent and the passengers were told to visit the station for correct status of the train. The Railways had provided six helpline numbers at Nagpur, Sewagram, Wardha, Ballarshah, Betul, Itarsi and Gondiya.
The trains from South towards Itarsi were diverted and followed Itarsi, Khandwa, Bhusawal, Badnera, Vardha and Ballarshah route.
Most of the trains between Badnera and Nagpur will follow the scheduled route while few will be diverted from Badnera to Narkheda. On Wednesday as many as 21 trains were diverted to reach their destination.
Notably, on July 19 a portion of railway track between Sindhi and Tujlapura station was washed out due to heavy rains. After the incident, as many as 28 trains were diverted, few were partially cancelled and few were cancelled.
The Divisional Railway Manager of Nagpur Division Brajesh Dixit and senior officials are monitoring the repair work at the spot.
Meanwhile, the West Central Railway has started a 40 day awareness campaign for ‘guard less railway crossing’ through mobile phone messages.
With the aim to spread awareness about the precautions for commuters while crossing the railway crossing SMS’s are send on mobile. The campaign would target those areas where the crossing are unguarded which are present in the zone.
It is one of the introductory campaigns and more would follow depending on the success of this awareness campaign.
