Residential camps organised to break social barriers

Published on:

A three-day residential camp called — Rubaroo — was organised by SWANS, a volunteer association in Bhopal to break social barriers among privileged, under privileged and disabled children.

From privileged schools and to children from slums, shelter homes, orphanage and disability groups were brought together under the same roof with lots of activities. On day 1, i.e. on December 21, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) organised a visit to Bhojpur to create awareness of the children on heritage conservation. The evening was filled with creative activities like paper-dress making and cultural activities that were presented in the evening.

The highlight of this year’s Rubaroo is inclusion of the hearing and speech disables. It was interesting to see children interacting with each other in sign language. Many citizens and organisations supported the camp by sharing their resources. Vasundhara group hosted the camp as a part of their corporate social responsibility. The prominent supporters were ABD Homes, Agarwal Constructions, Sanskar, Palash & ASI (Archaeological Survey of India).
