Resentment is brewing up in the Muslim community of the State capital against the Auqaf e Shahi (Royal Waqf Properties Board) over the issue of Rubat (guest houses) accommodation to Haj pilgrims at Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.
The condition has gone so worst that Minorities United Organisation (MUO), a frontal organisation of eminent community members of the city that is raising the issue for long on Monday demanded administrative intervention in the issue besides stay on the Qurrah (lottery) for the Rubats scheduled on June 16.
MUO handed over a memorandum to Bhopal collector demanding enquiry of the income of Auqaf e Shahi properties, besides ensuring accommodation to all the Haj pilgrims from Bhopal in the Rubats at Mecca and Medina.
The MUO President Arif Masood and its members Qazi Azmat Shah Makki, Maulana Irfan, Ayyub, Abdul Nafis and others called on Collector Nishant Warbade and handed over ver a memorandum demanding enquiry in the irregularities in Auqaf e Shahi.
The MUO in its memorandum stated that it is an issue of public interest and hence demanded from the collector to write letter to Saudi Arabian embassy here in India to aware them with the whole issue and request them to carry out an enquiry of the whole issue in Saudi Arabia.
later in a statement, Masood said that the accounts of the income and expenditure of the Auqaf e Shahi remains with its secretary Anwaar Mohammed Khan that he should make it public. Due to mismanagement and irregularities committed by Khan the pilgrims going to Saudi Arabia from the state capital faces lot of problems, proper accommodation facilities are also not provided to them when they reach Mecca and Medina.
Khan, Auqaf-e-Shahi Mutawalli (care taker) Saba Ali Khan and Begum Bhopal Aisha Ali Khan (Sharmila Tagore) had also assured the people of Bhopal besides religious heads of the city about six months back that they have enough funds and that they would soon construct a new Rubat but till that nothing of sort has happened. This is fraud with the people of Bhopal and hence an enquiry of the whole issue should be carried out, he added.
