Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dube has directed the authorities concerned to repair all the State and national highways passing through the district within a period of seven days.
The instruction was given in a meeting of the senior Government officials of the division here on Friday. Sanjay observed that because of the incessant rains in the region over the last few weeks, all the State and national highways passing through the division including labor-Ghata Billod road, Indore-Pithampur road, Dhar-Manawar road, Rajgarh-Kukshi road, Dewas-Indore road have got damaged, thereby causing inconveniences to the commuters and local people.
It may be mentioned that private bus operators plying on Indore-Jhabua, Indore-Rajgarh, and Indore-Ahmedabad had recently gone on strike protesting the dilapidated condition of Indore-Ahmedabad highway. They had resumed the services on the condition that repair of the highway would be carried out at the earliest by the concerned authorities.
In the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner, taking a serious note of the decrepit condition of all the main roads and highways connecting Indore to various adjoining towns and cities, which had been decayed further after bouts of torrential rains in the region, asked the officials concerned to carry out repair of these roads and complete the same within seven days.
The Commissioner also made it clear that the concerned agencies should ensure that commuters were not subject to any of inconveniences and disturbance while they were carrying out the repairing works. Commissioner also directed National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Manager Vijay Shrivastava to complete repair works of all the roads of national highway passing through the division within stipulated time.
