Alleging large-scale misuse of the proposed land Acquisition Bill the Communist Party of India – Marxist (CPI–M) has called a one-day State-level joint convention on November 24 to discuss forced displacement, headlong land acquisitions and rehabilitation issues. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also been invited for the convention.
CPI–M State secretary Badal Saroj in a statement here on Saturday said, “Headlong displacement is going on in Madhya Pradesh. Even before the notorious land Acquisition Bill land used to be snatched in record breaking spree, evictions used to happen and rules are broken for the industrial houses. Now the loot of the land has started in the name of smart cities. Despite return of the notorious land acquisition ordinance, provisions of arbitrary land acquisition through State Governments have been left. Madhya Pradesh is fast on the way to become leader in the misuse of this ordinance.”
Saroj further said that lies of the Government over the Narmada displacement are exposed every now and then since thirty years and neither they have been provided justice nor their rights are protected.
He said that in the recent time especially after the land Acquisition Bill coordination among the parties and organisations fighting for the cause of displacement and rehabilitation have increased in the State too like everywhere else in the country. Frequency of joint activities has increased and it was due to this unity that the Modi Government was forced to leave its waywardness and roll back the ordinance. But now preparations have been made to come up with State level law in this regard and some of the States have even passed the similar law. Hence many similar likeminded parties organisations working on the issue of displacement and rehabilitation have decided to launch joint initiative over the issue, he added.
The CPI–M State secretary said that in order to provide it a bigger shape a convention has been organised here at Gandhi Bhawan on Tuesday and the Chief Minister has also been invited in the same.
