Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that he would devote every minute of his five-year term to development works by changing definition of politics.

Chouhan was addressing an ‘Aao Banayen Apna Madhya Pradesh’ convention at Shajapur today. He said that real ruler in democracy is not Chief Minister, but people. He said that development schemes will be chalked out with common people’s participation and not behind the closed doors. He said that food processing units will be set up in Shajapur district to make agriculture profitable, specially a processing unit for orange at Polai Kalan. The Chief Minister said that efforts will be ensured to increase income of people who do petty works apart from farming to eke out their livelihood.

Now rice along with wheat is also being provided to the poor at the rate of Rs 1 per kg. He underlined State Government’s commitment to meet people’s basic needs including food, clothes, house etc.

The Chief Minister said that development schemes for every section of society will be chalked out to make Madhya Pradesh a pioneer State. The State Government has given 50 per cent reservation to women in local bodies. Women are also participating in large number in government services. He alone cannot develop Madhya Pradesh but everyone will have to come forward for this. If doctors treat honestly, advocates discharge their duties well and teachers teach regularly in schools, only then Madhya Pradesh can be re-built. He urged people to plant saplings on every auspicious occasion.

Things will improve only when everyone plants a sapling, conserves rainwater, every child goes to school and communities de-addict villages. Chouhan announced to give Rs 5 lakh for development to every Gram Panchayat elected unopposed. The Chief Minister began the convention with worship of girls. Chouhan inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various construction works in the district costing Rs 11.37 crore. An exhibition focusing on development works was also put up at the convention site.
