Sleuths of the lokayukta police on Friday caught a reader of a tehsildar while accepting a bribe of Rs10,000 redhanded. Tehsildar, the main accused in the incident is however, stated to be absconding. District police have launched manhunt to nab him.
The incident took place at nearby Simrol. The accused identified as Kanhaiya Chouhan, a reader of upper tehsildar Pradip Kaurav posted at Simrol, has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
According to lokayukta DSP BS Parihar, the complainant Jitendra Sadhwani, a resident of Jaora Compound, had purchased a land at Bardari village. Upper tehsildar Pradip Kaurav posted at Simrol, according to complainant, had demanded a bribe of Rs10,000 from him for transfer of this land. The complainant, who had recorded his talk with the tehsildar,
lodged a complaint to this effect with the lokayukta police in Indore.
Subsequently as per the plan laid out by the lokayukta police, a team of the lokayukta police accompanied complainant up to Simrol in plain clothes.
Since upper tehsildar Kaurav had entrusted his reader Chouhan to receive bribe, the complainant Sadhwani went up to his office cabin and handed over the cash of Rs10,000 to him. The reader after taking the bribe money from Sadhwani kept it beneath the table. Jawans of the lokayukta police who were standing outside, immediately entered the office of Chouhan,
thereafter, arrested him and recovered the money from
his possession.
Meanwhile, the lokayukta police have registered cases against both reader Chouhan and tehsildar Kaurav under the Prevention of Corruption Act. While reader Chouhan has already been arrested, police have launched
manhunt to nab upper tehsildar Kaurav.
